How We Learn

At Wise Owls, we believe that children of different ages learn a great deal from one another. Our staff are passionate about encouraging connections across age groups, which helps support smooth transitions as children move through the nursery.

Our Hedgehogs (2–4 years) and Bluebirds (3–5 years) have classrooms located next door to each other, allowing them to free-flow between spaces throughout the day. They also enjoy constant access to our beautiful walled garden, where they can explore, play and learn together.

Our Squirrels (9 months–2 years) have their own dedicated area in Treetops, designed to give them plenty of space to climb, explore and develop confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Garden times are staggered for the Bluebirds, Hedgehogs and Squirrels, and we encourage all children to spend as much time as possible outdoors.

Our Ethos

Nursery Children Painting Stones

At Wise Owls, we believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued, and curious about the world around them. Our ethos is built on playful exploration, creativity, and a love of learning that begins in the earliest years.

We create rich learning environments where children are encouraged to follow their interests, make discoveries, and develop independence at their own pace.

We see every child as a unique individual, and our role is to nurture their natural curiosity, build their confidence, and give them the foundations to become lifelong learners.

Nursery Art Class

All children take part in age appropriate group times and shared learning.

The Staff plan, using the EYFS, to extend the children’s learning and tailor each next step to the individual child’s needs.

Wise Owls is very privileged to have our very own Artist in Residence. Anita is very interested in light, colour and storytelling and combines creative art journeys and early science experiments to stimulate and nurture the natural curiosity of the children.  These experiences are available for all children to explore throughout the sessions.
