Absence Procedure

Illness and Absence

If your child is ill, please let us know as soon as you can so we can let their key worker know. If your child becomes unwell at Wise Owls we will contact you first and then the emergency contact if we cannot get hold of you.  Wise Owls is a ‘No Calpol’ nursery which means we will not administer Calpol unless it has been prescribed by a doctor or unless your child has a medical condition which we know about.  If you have administered Calpol or Nurofen to your child they should not attend Wise Owls for 24 hours from the latest dose. This is because Calpol/Nurofen can mask the effects of illness which could then be passed on to other children.

If a child has a head accident or an accident/incident that we think is important, we will phone you to let you know so that you know prior to coming to collect your child. You will also be notified via Famly.

For further information on absence and illness, please click here to read our Sickness Policy and/or our Child Absence Procedure. For Public Health Authority guidance on infection control in childcare settings, please click here.

If your child is away on a planned absence please let us know as Brighton and Hove will not fund for holiday or absences over three weeks and Wise Owls will have to renegotiate your invoice.

Covid-19 Sickness Policy

Only children who are symptom free or have completed the required isolation period should attend the setting.  In the event of a child developing suspected coronavirus symptoms whilst attending the setting, they should be collected as soon as possible and isolate at home in line with the current NHS guidance.
